PGP LIGHTS ARE BACK ON THE ROAD IN 2021 IN A BIG, BIG WAY!
NASHVILLE - Multiple award winning country music superstar Chris Stapleton is currently on tour with 9 trucks of production, including a large lighting package from Premier Global Production.
Working closely with show designer Mac Mosier and the Stapleton management team, PGP came up with a custom “old school” look for Stapleton, whose music throws back to the styles of Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard and other Music City headliners from the 1980s.
The key element of the design is a wall and ceiling of 378 LED par cans from Vari-lite. The fixtures look and feel like a vintage par can, but run a lot cooler with a multitude of colors available with a touch of the lighting console button.
Above the wall, ceiling and video screen are multiple movers on a U-shaped truss: 24 Cuepix WW4 blinders, 20 Martin Mac Auras, 23 Ayrton Ghilbis — for key light — and 6 Martin Mac Axioms. Hanging upstage there are 20 VL 3500 cannons that shoot through the par can wall for effect and mood.
“The system is working great,” Mosier says. “And the crew is doing great. We couldn’t be happier. It’s one helluva a show.”
Indeed it is.
Stapleton and his band sound impeccable each and every night, delivering hit after hit, in the best traditions of country music. The PGP lighting system serves to finish off the concert experience, providing a visual element that marries perfectly with Stapleton’s old school sound.
